"WHERE'S MY [Political Identity]"

Heyoo! My name is Naomi Crispino and I am a senior attending Summit Rainier High School. This blog is a safe space to freely share political opinions and stands. I hope to deeply explore my political views and stands during our project.

Our project "Deconstructing Politics in America" is based on learning about our own political views and opinions. During this project we will write a few blogs about what we learn in class and our thoughts.

Over the years I've constantly heard about democrats and republicans clashing viewpoints. I've always chosen one political party over another and I'm sure we can guess which one that is...

The two main political parties in America are the Democrats and Republicans. Both parties have their own mascots. The Democrats being the donkey (left) and Republicans the elephant (right).

Anyways...the question that everyone (probably only Mr. Quezada) is asking...

What is my political typology? Well first let's learn a little bit about what political typology actually is. Below is a crash course video to cover the basis of what political typology is, I highly recommend taking a few moments to watch it if you have no idea what I'm talking about!

Now that we've covered that...surprise!

I'm a Solid Liberal. As a Solid Liberal, I hold consistently liberal values. I support a strong role for the government in citizens rights and advocate for social safety. My opinion is that the current economic system is unfair and inequality is still a major problem today. I believe immigrants are helpful to society through their hardworking values and believe there is still much discrimination against other races and women.

Compared to the general public I am only part of a 16% who are solid liberals.

Here is an in-depth graph of where I stand. As you can see there are a lot more people who are mixed. But there are also more consistently liberals than consistently conservatives.

As a solid liberal one key issue that is very important to me is abortion rights and immigration. Especially in the area I live in it is something that is current and needed.

There has been a lot of controversy over abortion-rights. Especially where I am from people have voiced strong opinions about how dangerous it can be to ban abortion.
Abortion is an important issue to me because I know people who needed them. They did not have an abortion to get one, they had a reason. It is also no ones business to be telling a woman what to do with her body. I personally believe banning abortion would actually violate the 14th Amendment.

Here is a video about what it means to fight for abortion rights, without the pro-choice and pro-life labels. It speaks about how I see abortion rights:

To segway into the next topic important to me (Immigration) here is a political cartoon:

The way immigrants are treated now is a little... too familiar. Living in California there are a lot of immigrants, and they are the most hardworking people I've ever met.

Immigration is important to my area, and I'm sure a lot of other areas, because it is very recent and it is an ongoing topic. Many people are against it, for example our *so called* president. Yet these people are just trying to find homes and ways to support their families. As an immigrant myself, I know how intense and long the process is and it took me many years to become a citizen.

There are still many issues happening today! One example is the migrant caravan and here is what is happening now because of the Trump administration:

What do you readers identify as? What are your viewpoints? I hope you are open to sharing with me your political views as I am!
